Finally vacation and that long-awaited journey, after a long time toil. Whether it be stretched out at the pool with a good book, a series of cultural highlights or a sporty nature trip: you have earned it and are looking forward to it!

It will happen to you that your flight is just then significantly delayed, your hotel turned out to be fully booked or looks nothing at all like that luxury spot from the brochure...

Not to mention an accident with the shuttle bus on the way to your museum visit, resulting in significant damage...

Fortunately, you are entitled to appropriate compensation or reimbursements.

Is your flight delayed, canceled or overbooked?

You are likely to be eligible for compensation of up to EUR 600 per flight, depending on the length of the missed flight, the duration and the reason for the delay or cancellation.

A claim or accident during your (package) trip?

A claim or accident incurred during the package holiday can be the result of a "non-conformity" of the trip, namely the determination that the trip does not correspond to what you may expect from it.

Apart from the normal liability rules, compensation can be obtained in this way through the new Travel Act, which imposes specific regulations for this with a compensation obligation by the tour operator.

It could be a traffic accident with the coach, a loose shower curtain that causes you to fall, a defective sun lounger that you fall through,...

However, various formalities must be completed, both on the spot and immediately after the trip. Please contact us as soon as possible if something happens to you, so that we can advise you appropriately whether you might be eligible for compensation and what you should do about it.

Or does your hotel not meet what was previously proposed?

If the tour does not comply with what the tour operator had promised you or what could be expected on the basis of the travel agreement, it is of great importance that you immediately report any non-conformity in the execution of the package to the tour operator, who will should provide a solution within a reasonable period of time.

If the tour operator does not do anything to resolve this, you may under certain conditions do this yourself, and may be eligible for compensation afterwards.

Think of the situation where you book a package holiday to a hotel, which the tour operator presents as a luxurious five star hotel, and when you arrive you find a completely outdated hotel in a terrible condition. You report this to your tour operator as soon as possible, who is then obliged to solve this for you. If the latter does not or cannot do this because this entails disproportionate costs, you as a traveler are entitled to an appropriate price reduction or compensation if you suffer damage as a result.
