Pierre Dekeukelaere (Ostend, 1956), graduated with distinction on 12 July 1979 from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U.L.) in law. After taking the oath on 5 November 1979, he was registered at the Brussels Bar. In August 1980 he came to the bar of Bruges and did his internship with Mr Robert Ancot, former chairman of the Bar and senator for 18 years, and Mr Paul Ducheyne. Since 1987 he has been a deputy judge at the Court of First Instance in Bruges. In doing so, he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, who was President here between 1945 and 1950.
His passions include Eastern and Western Philosophy, Chinese Culture and China, Middle Eastern Culture and History. He is an avid walker and practices qigong.
