PRESS: Wanted Lawyer Paul Verhaeghe interviewed in Knack about tax transparency
Our colleague Paul Verhaeghe (Wanted Law) was recently interviewed by Knack for an article about the increasing knowledge base of the tax authorities and the impact thereof on privacy and tax audits.
In the article “People do not realize how much the tax authorities know,” Knack delves deeper into how governments today collect and analyze increasingly more data in the context of tax audits. According to Verhaeghe, many taxpayers underestimate the amount of information the tax authorities already possess. He emphasizes that digitization and data exchange have significantly expanded audit capabilities, raising important questions regarding transparency, legal certainty, and privacy.
The interview is part of a broader analysis of the evolution of tax enforcement and the balance between efficient auditing and the protection of individual rights.
