PRESS: Interview on HLN with lawyer Ashley Bickx about his client Hans D.
Wanted Lawyer Ashley Bickx, Hans D.'s lawyer, has publicly responded for the first time to the controversial case surrounding the death of Annie De Poortere. He emphasizes that his client is a victim of prejudice, while the public prosecutor's office holds him responsible for the death of his wife in 1994 without irrefutable evidence.
Ashley Bickx defends Hans D.'s statement in which he says that Mrs. De Poortere committed suicide, after which his client buried her out of panic.
The case has now expired, meaning that his client can no longer be prosecuted. Nevertheless, Ashley Bickx is heavily critical of the public prosecutor's office: "Due to suggestive conclusions and public communication, the presumption of innocence has been completely thrown overboard. My client will never have the chance to clear his name."
